Soumya tried to convince my aunt for her trip. My aunt however, was very sure about her decision.

She said, ‘You are still a school girl. And this would be your first trip to international destination. How can I take risk to send you alone?’

‘But mummy, it is NASA! I have been selected for it. And I want to go.’ Said Soumya.

‘So what? How will you manage your hair? How will you stay alone? Do you even know about immigration?’

‘Mummy, I will manage and after all we have teachers and our tour manager to guide us. Please let me go.’

Soumya studied in an international school and on the basis of her merit and her academicals achievements, she was selected for the study trip to NASA. Some total of 20 students were supposed to go.

I tried to speak to my aunt for my younger cousin, but even I couldn’t convince her. My uncle came home and Soumya started to talk to him.

‘Of course, you are going my dear.’ He said.

My Aunt looked furious with this sentence. She asked him how will Soumya manage things alone etc.

‘She is grown up. She can communicate well, take her decisions and if she needs anything she can always ask. Let her explore, this will help her mature in better way. ‘Yeah!’ Soumya rejoiced.

When Soumya went for her trip she shared pictures and videos with all of us. She had stories to tell, learned new things, developed her soft skills and understood the value of money when she spent it herself.

While we looked at her picture’s uncle said, ‘See she is managing like a pro.’

Aunty looked happy but said anyways, ‘N, see she isn’t managing her hair quite well.’ And we all busted into laughter.
